My name is Capone, as in Big Al Capone. Why the gangster name you ask? Well, you see, like most Beagles I am a convicted escape artist! Yes, I was picked up as a stray and when the rescue was transporting me I slipped their collar and took off! I lived on the lam for 10 days as a fugitive before I was cornered and brought back into rescue custody. Plus, look at my very distinguished looking brown eyebrows! They are my gangster trademark! So, since my recapture, I am residing with my foster family in Princeton,  NJ and I have to say, life is good!!! I'm not sure why I didn't agree to this whole "settled down" life style a lot sooner! So, I am told that although I may be mixed with something else, I am more Beagle than anything.  My past life is a bit sketchy. Whether I was once a family pet or a hunter's barn dog is unknown.  But, whatever happened it left me very untrusting of people. The good news is that I am completely housebroken! I have been with my foster family for nearly a month now and they are teaching me that all people aren't bad. I am coming out of my shell and am showing everyone the little love bug that I really am! I adore the 2 pugs that I live with and much to their dismay, I shower them with constant kisses. So a home with another dog or two will be fine. I'm even now giving my foster Mom and Dad lots of kisses! So, if you don't like an affectionate, kissy, smoochy lovie type of gangster pooch, then I'm not your guy. I live with a cat who loves to run and since I love to chase, it's not working out so well. I don't think I would hurt him, but for now we are saying a house without cats is preferred. I also have had no experience around children and since I am still very nervous in new situations a house with no children or with older, compassionate children is preferred. If you are a hunter looking for a Beagle to hunt with, please look elsewhere. I am afraid of loud noises and am a flight risk. I need a calm, happy home that is willing and able to continue teaching  me about trust and love. A secure home with a fenced yard where I can wander around under supervision and a quiet neighborhood where I can go on leashed walks. I am a work in progress, but I have already made so much progress and continue to discover how wonderful life can be.  I am completely housebroken, sleep in my crate happily during the day, sleep in bed with my pug buds at night, am neutered, microchipped and up to date on my shots. My foster family tells me how much they love me and how each and everyday with me is a rewarding new adventure. They have also promised me that they will find me the perfect family for my very own, where I will never have to worry about being lost on the streets or in the woods again.
